Fly Fishing Gifts For Christmas

Fly Fishing Gifts For ChristmasBy Nomadrick Chapo

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year unless you’re having problems coming up with gift ideas. Here are a few fly fishing gift ideas.

Okay, I’ll be the first one to admit publicly that buying gifts for the holidays can be a pain in derriere. When it comes right down to it, how well do you know someone and how do you know what he or she likes? Buying for kids is great because you can always peak at the letter to Santa. Unfortunately, most adults have given up writing to Santa and you really don’t want to read through there other letters. Fortunately, this isn’t a problem if you are buying for a fly fishing enthusiast.

Fly Fishing Gifts

Fly fishing is an extremely popular sport and a good way to become one with nature. Of course, you probably don’t care about any of that. Instead, you want to know what you should buy for guy or gal in your life that loves to go fly fishing. Well, here are a few ideas.

1. Flies – You lucky dog, the top gift you can give a fly fisherman is a fly. Flies are the “bait” that go on the end of the line and are used to attract fish. Flies come in a variety of types and forms. The most basic are Nymphs and Mayflies, which mimic a type of bug that lives in rivers and is considered fine dining by bass and other fish. You can expect to pay a couple of bucks per fly, so feel free to buy more than one.

2. Local Specialty Fly – Okay, this will take a bit of effort on your part. Every fishing area has a specialty fly that is known to have fish leaping out of the water before casting even begins. Since the exact fly varies from location to location, you need to stop by a local fishing store and ask for advice. Try to pick a beat up looking shop with gentlemen of an older persuasion. They’ll talk your ear off, but you’ll get something unique.

3. Fly Station – Okay, this is going to be a more costly item. A fly station looks like a small desk and for a good reason. The fly station is where your beloved angler will sit and create his or her own flies. Part of the allure of fly fishing is tying your own flies and fly stations are built for this purpose. You can expect to pay as low as $75 and as high as anyone has the never to charge.

4. Nomad Fly Fishing Journals – A little self-promotion here. Nomad Fly Fishing Journals are compact writing journals that let anglers keep notes on their efforts. They can note the fishing conditions, which flies worked the best, who the fished with and notes on what they should do differently next time. You can click the link at the bottom of this article to see the journals and expect to pay $25 for the journal and waterproof case.

If you’re looking for fly fishing gifts, consider yourself lucky. The equipment tends to be inexpensive and last a very long time.

What Can Be Said With a Christmas Gift Box

What Can Be Said With a Christmas Gift BoxBy Annie Dubois

When the holiday season rolls around, we all think about those glorious presents filled with clothes, foods, and toys. From model airplanes to spicy Mexican salsa, the world is alive with shopping and giving. There is one aspect of the holiday season that often gets overlooked: the Christmas gift box.

So you purchase a wonderful new sweater for your sister, Mary. Take that sweater home proud of your day’s accomplishment. Now it is time to wrap that sweater, but you did not get anything to put the sweater in. There are copious types of Christmas gift boxes that have plenty of opportunities, and the right container will insure you are not wrapping that precious present in a cornflakes box.

With so many options available, you can find something special to hold just about anything from your favorite Mexican food sauces to favorite books. Knowing which is right for your needs means you have something special beyond just the present. In fact, many of those containers can be used over again, which makes them a perfect keepsake. Imagine a present holding a present!

Tins are a favorite for cookies, candies, and the right tin can even hold a gift basket of items. Toys, trains, and even gift certificates can be placed in the right tin. Tins are reusable, and you can purchase tins for almost free at a local dollar store or even online. Some tins are round, other are square. Regardless of the type or size, tins are a great way to decorate those hard to wrap items.

Christmas gift boxes also come in the more traditional cardboard. These can be decorative or simple white or brown. You may have to add your own paper to the non-decorative ones, but many people still enjoy wrapping presents for family and friends. These boxes are generally easy to ship as well and do not weigh as much as tins saving you money on shipping.

Baskets are becoming a popular choice for those wanting something special. These can be made of a single item or a collage of little items. Imagine a basket filled with coffee, mugs, and even creamers. You will have a world of opportunities available when you choose to decorate with baskets.

Envelopes or cards can be a great way to deliver gift certificates or cash. While cash and gift certificates can be fun, many still prefer to shop the old fashioned way. However, cards and envelopes are easy to deliver, mail, and open. Many people collect cards as well. This makes cards a popular choice especially for those recipients that appreciate scrapbooking.

In addition, you can forgo a Christmas gift box simply by using other avenues of wrapping such as stockings, socks, balloons, and much more. These days, wrapping those presents has taken on a whole new life of its own. Each method is a personal reflection of you and your personal preferences.

As you can see, a lot can be said for the simple Christmas gift box. Make your choice reflecting what you cherish the most and you will never go wrong.

Making Christmas Fun.

Making Christmas Fun.By Debby Brown

Christmas Memories.

Remember when you were a kid and you just could not wait for Christmas? What are some of the things you remember most? I remember traveling to my Grandparents house and the way my Grandmothers house smelled of gingerbread, pies, turkey and all the other special things she would make. I remember going to buy the Christmas tree and how the lot smelled of fresh pine needles. My favorite memories are of my brothers and sister and I making paper chains, snowflakes, gingerbread man cutout garlands and various other ornaments and decorations which we were allowed to hang around the living room and add to the Christmas tree. My job in decorating the tree was a very special one. I got to put the tinsel on after everything else was in place. I loved being able to help decorate our Christmas tree. Being the youngest and smallest it made me feel big.

Goodie Baskets.

Christmas is such a special time of year, especially for children. It is a time when they can learn to give to others from their hearts. There are many activities that can help children feel part of Christmas. One really fun activity that can involve the whole family is to pick a neighbor or friend to give a goodie basket to. The kids can make special ornaments and help decorate gingerbread or sugar cookies. Then put them in a basket or nicely wrapped box and leave it on a friend or neighbors doorstep, ring the bell and run. There are poems you can add that tell them to reciprocate with another family that you can find online, print out and add to the basket or box or you can write your own. Be the first to get this started and watch your children and neighbors all get the Christmas Spirit. You can find lots of ideas for other activities online and in books like the Gooseberry Patch Christmas Books.

Decorations Children Can Make.

Here are some easy and fun decorations that children can make.

Paper Snowflakes;

Fold the paper in half, then in half twice more. Cut out small shapes and notches around the edges. Unfold and round the corners. The smaller the paper you use the smaller the snowflakes will be. Also the more times you fold the paper the lacy the snowflake will be. These can be decorated with glitter.

Felt Ornaments;

Use cookie cutters to trace shapes onto felt squares. Cut them out and decorate with sequins, beads, buttons, fabric trims, glitter, craft paints. You can use cardboard or stiff plastic for a backing if you like. This can also be done with shapes cut from wood.

Letter To Santa Ornaments;

Have your children write a short letter to Santa. Glue it to colored paper, decorate the edges and add cardboard or stiff plastic backing. Punch two holes at the top and tie ribbon or twine loops for hanging.

Gingerbread Man Garland;

Use a Gingerbread Man Cookie cutter to trace onto brown paper bags. Cut them out and decorate with markers or craft paints; puff paints are good for these. Then punch holes in there hands and use ribbon or twine to connect them. Let your children decorate their room with them or even their own small Christmas tree.

Promoting Christmas Gift-Giving Drives

Promoting Christmas Gift-Giving Drives

Author: Nikki Sabato
Christmas is always a time of abundant gift-giving. In a season characterized by hope, love, joy, understanding, harmony and charity, Christmas drives are usually popular activities. Christmas drives and sponsorship programs’ goals are to gather donations in cash or kind of gifts for the less fortunate at Christmas. If there is a season where donations are given generously, Christmas is usually the most popular season for it. Below is a list of established Christmas donation programs and organizations in the United States and around the world:

The Christmas Wish Program- The Christmas Wish Program, Inc. (CWP) is a non-profit organization run only by volunteers and donations. CWP is designed that way to let the public share in the joy of giving and the opportunity to help build a brighter future for local homeless and low-income communities in Hawaii. The program gathers school supplies, clothing, food, personal hygiene items and monetary donations.

Christmas Spirit Foundation- The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation is committed to keeping the spirit of Christmas alive and growing memories for the next generation of children and families. The foundation is a 501(c) 3 public charity. One of the foundation’s programs this Christmas was the Trees for Troops program, which gathered donations in order to purchase and ship Christmas trees to US troop bases all over the world at Christmas.

Alternative Gifts International- Alternative Gifts International is a non-profit organization which inspires support for humanitarian and environmental causes since 1986.The program offers donors the option to designate charitable gifts through carefully selected agencies in the name of their relatives, friends and associates.

Promotion and marketing for these events are crucial for their causes and missions. Since most of the programs are non-profit and rely on charity, marketing them may be a challenge. One effective but affordable method of promotion is through the use of print promotional materials. Examples of these include the use of flyers, booklets, brochures, stickers or hang tags. Promotional items that can also serve as gift items to sponsors and donors include bookmarks, calendars, stationery or posters. Printing companies online like Uprinting for example, offer discounted printing rates through convenient online discount coupons.

Nikki is a writer with experience in design. Currently, she works in the field of marketing.
