Decisions, Decisions: Buying Christmas Decorations by Art Gib
Christmas decorations come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, and every year more and more products hit the market. Trees, bulbs, lights, stockings, wreaths, and ornaments are just the tip of the iceberg. With so many products and so many varieties available it can sometimes be a chore just choosing your favorite decorations. The tree and the wreath are two of the most popular symbols of Christmas, and can often pose a buying dilemma for consumers.
The most widely used Christmas decoration is the tree. When choosing your tree the first thing you will want to do is decide whether or not you want a real one. If you go with a real tree you will want to get an estimate of the size you are looking for and then head out to the tree lot and find one that you love. Strap it onto your car and go. You’re done.
With a fake tree you will also need to get an estimate of the size. While you’re out shopping you will see both un-lit and pre-lit trees. The pre-lit will be done in either color or white. The colored lights add a fun touch to your holiday season, while the colored lights make the tree seem more elegant. It’s entirely your preference at this point.
Keep in mind that the lights on these trees do sometimes go out, but you don’t have to string them. With the unlit tree, of course, you will have to string the lights yourself. As far as fake tree styles go you will have a great variety to choose from than the real tree. Fake trees can be tall, short, fat, skinny, full, bare, and even upside down. Find one that you love and go with that.
The Christmas wreath is another highly popular addition to the home during the holiday season. It is, of course, hung on the door where everybody can see it. Like the tree, the wreath can be purchased in a variety of different types and styles. The most common type is probably the evergreen wreath, decorated simply with a bright red bow attached, often in the top center of the wreath.
This simple wreath absolutely makes one feel the spirit of the season. Many people prefer something a little bit fancier, however. For those people there are wreaths available decorated with ribbon, bulbs, clusters of plastic fruit, and frosted pinecones. These wreaths are fancy and elegant and give the home a look of elegance.
If you can’t find a product in the stores that is appealing to your tastes you may want to consider making your own. Of course, you can’t necessarily make your own tree, but the right decorations can make any tree beautiful. The wreath is another story. Many people buy a plain wreath and decorate it with their own ribbon and objects.
These customized wreaths are often beautiful and represent what the person loves or their personality. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you love it and can look at it day in and day out for a month.
